Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), used for surveillance purposes, has evolved considerably
over the last few years.
A network camera can be described as a camera and computer combined in one intelligent unit. It captures and transmits live images directly over an IP network (e.g. LAN/intranet/Internet), enabling users to remotely view and/or manage the camera from a Web browser on any computer, anywhere, at any time.
It is a modern and exciting concept that utilises an
existing, or dedicated high speed network infrastructure,
to provide the traditional surveillance functions and much
more besides.
